Olla Making Workshop

Join us this Saturday for a make-your-own Olla workshop! An Olla is an ancient method of irrigation that allows a clay pot filled with water to slowly seep water out to supply moisture to plants. You’ll get to make a small Olla using the coil method of construction under the direction of Chris Tholl of “Red Wall Studio”. Our pots will dry and then be fired and will be ready for garden use.

When: Saturday, June 9th, 10:00am-12:00pm
Where: East Lake Community Garden, 56 2nd Ave SE
Cost: $10-$20 sliding scale, free to observe and learn
RSVP to eastlakecommunitygarden@gmail.com or call Carling at (301) 518-7103

A Productive Weekend!

Thank you to all of you who volunteered at the Saturday and Sunday workdays this past weekend! On Saturday we worked on the structure for our future herb wall and planted a ton of flowers and perennial herbs. On Sunday we cleaned up the compost area and constructed a new compost bin out of pallets. The garden is looking great! Hope you can join us for our next volunteer workday on Wednesday, May 30th from 5:00-7:00.
